Bhakka is a traditional indigenous food of Rajbanshi community of Nepal and is popular in the eastern part of Nepal especially Morang district, Jhapa district and Sunsari district where there is superfluity of tharu community.Nowdays the popularity of bhakka has been spread throug out Nepal. This bhakka has been taken as breakfast or as fast food item in most of the areas.


 It's a product prepared from rice. The rice is pounded into the flour on traditional milling device 'Dhiki' or 'Jato' or 'Okhli'. The prepared flour is placed in a small bowl and the bowl is covered by the muslin cloth from the top and cooked over the steam for about 5-10 minutes produced by a special type of pot in which the water is boiling. The steaming process gelatinise the flour and make it edible cake like product known as Bhakka. It is served along with macerated chilly and salt. It can also take along with fish curry , cauliflower and potato curry.  It's mostly consumed during the cold season.
The product may not be accepted by the one who occasionally take it but it is the best product for the one who is habitual in it.

सामग्रीः एक रातअघि आवश्यकताअनुसार चामल भिजाएर राख्ने । भोलिपल्ट बिहान त्यसलाई कुटेर दाना-दाना बनाउने । दाना बनाउँदा थोरै पानी प्रयोग गर्ने ।
विधिः चामल कुटिसकेपछि त्यसमा थोरै मात्रामा पानी हाल्दै जाली भएको कपडाले छान्ने । उक्त पीठोलाई एउटा सानो प्लेट अथवा कचौरामा राखेर पातलो नरम कपडामा बेरेर मःम पकाउने अथवा बाफ आउने भाँडामा राखेर प्लेट अथवा कचौरा निकाल्ने । ५ मिनेटजति बाफमा पकाएर निकाल्ने । यसलाई धनियाँको अचार अथवा दूधसँग सर्भ गर्ने ।
