Indra Mohan Rajbongshi who born in Bangladesh is a versatile singer and researcher
with expertise in singing classic and folk music. He started learning
music at an early age under the guidance of late Kestodas Rajbongshi.
His gurus in classical music include renowned musicians Ustad Munshi
Raisuddin, Pandit Barin Majumdar, Ustad Aminul Islam, Ustad Monjoor
Hossain Khan, Ustad Akhtar Sadmani, and Ustad Azad Rahman. He learned
folk music from legendary folk singers of the subcontinent such as Abdul
Alim, Kanailal Shil, Momtaj Ali Khan, Hasan Ali Khan, Abdul Latif and
Hafijur Rahman.
Rajbongshi is closely associated with the Bangla film industry. He has been a playback singer and lyricist in many short films and feature films produced in Dhaka and Kolkata. He was awarded the
best singer by the Bangladesh Cine Journalist Association in 1976 for
the film ‘Nayan-Moni’ directed by Amjad Hossain. He is also a proud
recipient of the ‘Meril Jay Jay Din Award’ in 1995 for being the best
singer of the year. He won the ‘Shilpacharya Zainul Abbedin’ award in
2007 and the ‘World Master Certificate award’ in the same year at Seoul,

Rajbongshi is a regular artiste of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar. He has so far released nine albums and several gramophone records. He has performed all over the world as part of Bangladeshi cultural delegations.
Rajbongshi established a countrywide organisation named ‘Bangladesh Lok Sangeet Parishad’ in 1998 with a view to collect, research on and preserve the folk songs of Bangladesh. This organisation is acclaimed for its role in preserving the great folk heritage of Bangladesh.
